Ever since entering uni.
- I learnt a lot. Not just academic-wise. but also, to manage time wisely, to be more responsible and accountable for my personal actions.
- I made new friends in the U, some great friends in my course, in my hall. I've got to learn to treasure them and also not to neglect my old friends.
- I became closer to my xiao mei and her roomie. LOL.
- I began to see things in different ways.
- I realised how foolish I am with regards to certain things where I kept on hoping for it to happen but it didn't and probably never will turn out the way I want it to.

I guess it is all part of growing up. But there are still so many things for me to learn yet.

Semester 1 just flew by in the blink of an eye. I remember telling ppl around me how ridiculous it was that for uni, one semester was 3mths long. The reaction I got was:
"You sure anot? Not one term ah?"
"Serious??"
My friends and I wondered why the university worked in such a strange way, cramming everything into 3 mths, meaning 2 semesters in a year, approx 6-7mths, followed by some really long holidays. I mean, why couldn't they have spread it out so that we could have more time to learn more effectively? Oh wells.
Before I knew it, exams were fast approaching. I couldn't cope with Hall polo training, often having to skip trainings though it was just once a week just in order to ensure that I had time to catch up with my preparation for the exams. Home and hall became like prisons to me where I was cooped up. And where I studied. And studied. And studied. My dear lappy often became the only source of escape from the dredgery of eternal boredom. haha. Being a little over-expressive here...
Finally the exams began. With whatever limited preparation I had. But looking back, it was like what Guozheng told me a few days ago - bits and pieces of what we initially did not comprehend during lessons gradually fell into place and started to make sense, slowly but eventually. Maths paper and Econs in a day, followed by Physics, which was horrible as usual. Then Computing. Then Material Science. Oh, and there was time to celebrate Xiao Sian's 19th birthday in between. Glad that Funky and I managed to give her a very happy birthday celebration, though simple it was, and celebrated in hall.
Then 26th Nov came. The most dreaded paper - AE1001: Aerospace Discovery Course. How ironic. My interest. Well, sort of. Not exactly what a pilot needs to learn. But still, for something of interest to be something dreaded is quite incredibly.. ironic to say the least. It didn't help with lecturers teaching vaguely and putting fanciful equations in the notes to, quote, "make the notes look nice". Thankfully the paper was quite ok in the end.
And so the holidays have begun! No more having to stay up till 2 plus, 3 just to mug and mug! Yesss! =)
So far it's been pretty good. Hectic but fun. After the aero paper on Wed, I had a wonderful dinner with Ze Lin, Issac and Hlaing Soe at JP Billy Bombers, followed by watching Madagascar 2. For those who have not watched it, you should. Haha. You're guaranteed one heck of a laughter! Oh yeah also met up with GV Boon Lay Duty Manager Chang De. LOL. No free tickets for me though! Darn. Haha.
Thurs was spent at Yi Xiang's house playing Flight Simulator and learning about basic techniques and how the flight management system works. Pretty cool stuff. I just love the rudder pedals, the joystick and throttle tab. Not to mention how realistic his simulator software is. LOL. Oh yah and we played NFS too.. Dinner was prepared by his Mum. Simple yet wholesome. I liked it. A lot. Haha. A great day all in all.
Den I played soccer at NTU with Guozheng and his friends on Friday morning, followed by lunch with him at Joo Seng. Boy! was the Mee Pok Chilli hot ah!! haha. I also realised just how unfit I had become after nuaing for so long!
It was to be confirmed on Saturday when I met Kenny to take my IPPT @ Bedok Camp.

2.4km - 11.10min

Goodness. That was my slowest timing for a 2.4km ever. Of course, the weather was very hot. But that was no excuse. I managed to get Silver. I wanted Gold. But I had no right to ask for Gold given how unfit I was. 16th Dec. I booked another slot. One more chance before the window closes. haha. Then we had Cheng Ting at the Kopitiam opposite the camp. Fantastic thirst-quenching dessert for a terribly hot weather.

That's how my holidays have unfurled so far. Hectic, but fun. More of the same to come in the next few weeks. Choir camp, hall waterpolo games, darts, caroling (both school and church choir), soccer at ECP cage on 29th, possible chalet from 22-24th, Mum's and Kenny's bdae coming up, K session with Xiaoxian and Funky when she gets back, possible farm visits, kite flying, cycling... Yups. It certainly can't get much more hectic. or exciting.

Oh. And of course. 18th December isn't that far away either.

About time I updated this blog of mine....

Wow. It's been more than 2 mths since I last updated this space. Think I've been working too hard alr. Just last night I dreamt I was in this dirty toilet and I was given this water hose. And yes, I went abt cleaning the toilet for some reason. Terribly strange dream. I must be overworked. Or that I'm thinking too much abt things. No thanks to Alex who gave me more food for thought than I already needed last night. Thanks a heap Alex...

It's been ages since I last watched a movie. So today finally went to watch Iron Man. With my dad. Lolx. I wished I could have watched it with her but then again... =/
Anw heard from several ppl that it was a good show to catch, and I must say I was not disappointed. The technology, the storyline, the characters, sense of humour. Not bad at all. Probably rated the show abt 3.5/5... =P

Was supposed to watch it with that xiao mei of mine on Vesak Day. BUT.. when we met, she happily said, 'I dun wanna watch movie today leh'. Wonderful. Oh wells. Not that it was a bad thing either. We had some good time at Donut Factory, or shld I say, I had a good time at Donut Factory (The Strawberry White Choc Donut rox). After which we went to Starbucks Coffee to chill. I enjoyed spending time talking and just relaxing with my xiao mei. haha.

And then I met Derek Tew, who's working there. Talk abt coincidence. Just bumped into Brandon on the train on my way there, then met Derek at Starbucks. Met 2 army friends in one day. haha. Anw Derek, she's NOT my gf lar. too short alr. hahaha. kidding hor xiao mei =p

Last week was invited for this C N Yang scholarship interview by NTU. Rmb wondering what kind of interview would it be; did a bit of preparation for any standard questions that would come along, for e.g. Wad are your aspirations, why do you think we shld offer you this scholarship... And then when I went in for the interview on Tues, they asked all abt Physics questions. Thanks a lot lor. I haven't been in touch with my Physics for like... 2 yrs?? Lolx. And they asked things like gravitation, Physics of fluids.. WTH. But there was one question which was interesting - It was abt this 3 cities, for example, Tokyo, this other city and New York being on the same latitude on the Earth. that means they are on a straight line. However, when an airplane flies over from Tokyo to NY, why does it not fly straight over the middle city but instead, flies over the North Pole? Never ever thought abt such a thing in my life. LOL. The interview was quite an experience lar. Results shld be out this week but I'm definitely not optimistic abt it. Anw alr very lucky to be given the chance for the interview le. So just see how it goes. If I get it, well and good. If not, life goes on. hahax..

Been thinking of lots of stuff these few days. Wondering if I'm wasting my life, this 8mths of pre-uni life. Has it been all wasted on working, working, and just working for money? Sighs. So fast uni gg to start le. In abt 2 mths time. Back to the stress-pot again.

I haven't learnt how to play my guitar, haven't read up on Aerospace. and I really need to start working out to get back in shape from all the eating b4 gg in. Really hope there's abt enough time to do all these btw the time I stop work and b4 I go in to uni.

At least there's one thing unique I tried - I went prawning!! hahaha. Totally new experience. I've only been fishing once before this.. Years ago at Sultan Shore with Uncle Boon. Can hardly rmb anything to do with fishing, prawning, or catching whatever live seafood have you. haha. Was invited coz of Shurun's bday celebrations. Went to this prawning shack at Bishan after work around 11 plus. Was actually lazy to go but nevertheless went in the end. Thankful that I went. Prawning is really fun. It's just that you have to be really patient and luck counts too i guess. So many baits in the water, why should the prawn choose your bait leh? haha.. somehow the alignment of the bait actually matters. Strange but yeap. Spent 3hrs there but surprisingly was not that tired at all. Although the both of us only caught 2 prawns the whole night lor. Haha very shi bai. Mark, Jason, the Joyces, Jiazheng, Yichao and Matthew also went. and yes Yichao, I enjoyed myself that night in more ways than one. =)

I wanna spend more time at the library reading up, or gg to Borders just to find a good book to buy and read. haha really feel that my current state of knowledge is pathetic. Been keeping up to date with newspapers though. That's one good thing. =)

Sad to read things abt the disasters in Myanmar and China.. Especially in Myanmar. How the ppl need help desperately but yet the military junta does not want to open its doors to accept foreign assistance freely. It's sickening. Donated $20 to the Red Cross last Sunday. Although I have serious doubts if it would ever reach those victims in Myanmar to help them in any way at all. hahax sighs. This world has so many problems.... Where is GOD?? =/

Sometimes I wonder if I make certain things seem more complicated than they shld be. Do I really think too much? Lolx.. Anw I wanna go cycling!! Been dragging it for so long. Wonder when I'd ever be able to do it. Then Jiazheng the other day was mentioning we shld go to the beach and chill. Hmmz shld go Sentosa one of these days to laze on the beach and get a tan. Hehx..

Tonight's gonna be a night of tension again. Yups. It's the Champions League final. My Dad's sure gonna be making hell lot of a noise. Even though he promises to keep quiet tonight. haha. Man Utd pls pls win tonight.. Otherwise I really wouldn't have the mood to work tmr. Lolx.

Refreshing life for latest updates...

Oh wells. Just one thing to say today - Happy 21st birthday Sheldon!! Thanks for inviting to the party yesterday manz. enjoyed myself quite a fair bit. and it was good to see the woody gang and Marie again. =)

Almost halfway through the 8mths relaxing period alr. still have yet to learn how to play a guitar!! hope my organ and now guitar shi-fu clifford can guide me to pick up at least the basic stuff b4 uni starts. dreading the start of uni.. oh dear. uni hasn't even started and i'm dreading it..

Also starting to find work a bit sianz alr. nevertheless I realised that there are a few things that keep me going.. and I'm really, really, thankful for them.
1. The ICs: Jia Jia, Fred and whichever 3 that is around. haha. every IC that comes for a mth has their own interesting qualities and never fail to make life interesting. =)
2. The friends around: especially Mark, Jiazheng, Jason, Jiankai, Hongyi and Alex. all my buddies, the girls, my Xiao mei mei and of coz, that special someone (AHEM). =p it really feels like one big family in SH. probably the most impt reason why I enjoy working at SH. =D
3. the never-ending variety of customers that I face everyday
4. the ability to do provisioning - can't believe I actually came this far in SH. the previous seniors never went to the step of doing provisioning. maybe they didn't stay on long enough, maybe they didn't have the curiosity or hunger to want to learn more. hahaha whatever lar..

I wonder when am I going to tender my resignation. a bit sad to start thinking that it will all be coming to an end soon. it's been like... 4mths alr? *nostalgic moment* haha wanna plan for a vacation as well before going in uni. time really flies. have to make good use of it and plan well..

Singapore Airshow '08

I didn't get to catch the RSAF Black Knights!! Sianz. It was actually scheduled for the last show on air display!! But dunno what happened then they swapped it to the first show on display today. So.. missed it.. Sobs.. But okay lar. Managed to catch the team acrobatic display by the Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes which were pretty darn cool as well and had all the qualities of a grand finale for today's air display. so I'm not really complaining. but i really i wished i could have seen both!! Arghh.

Went there straightaway after church. BUT. the queue for the shuttle bus is downright scary lar. took abt 40mins to get to a bus. hehe and i did cut the queue abit here and there. haha bad behaviour. and den another 40plus mins to one hr wait for the shuttle bus ride back!! tsk tsk. and it's more or less the same experience as Asian Aerospace '06 lor. the static aircraft displays and the exhibitions. only this time I went alone and went late somemore. darn. nxt time in 2010 i'm juz gonna find myself a nice spot on Changi Beach and camp there to wait for the air display. hahaha. see how it goes. anyway some pics here... and one more thing. female air-force pilots are darn cool manz. they've got my R-E-S-P-E-C-T. =)

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Many many thanks to Marie who helped me a lot in making this blog happen. She's really a pro @ blogging. hahaha kudos to her =) not like a particular someone whom I gave chocs and a rose on V-day. TSK. =p but then again, I sux at computer stuff. So carn really blame her la. hehx.

Juz went out this afternoon for lunch with Say Yong. It was good to catch up with him after all these times. Talked abt work, life, and more on life. hahaha. Went to this restaurant at City Plaza which was called Arnold's Chicken. It is more or less the Malay version of KFC lar. hahaha. but nevertheless the fried chicken is really yummy. =)

Attended Yi Biao's wake yesterday. Still carn believe he's gone just like that. It's really sad. Good thing was I managed to meet up with a lot of ppl who I wouldn't usually meet, like Ah John, yr 1 commander PS; the scout commanders like Jeremy, Kenneth, Wing Hoe, Zheng Jun, and of coz my Pioneer buddies. What is ironic that such a thing had to happen b4 we actually get together to meet up... and we wouldn't meet up again until perhaps, reservist?? something that i don't look forward to btw. hahaha. life. haix.

I lost a friend...

He used to be one of my section men. So the CNY spirit or atmosphere was nothing like previous years. But strangely somehow, this CNY actually turned out to be the most fulfilling one for me. The word is 'fulfilling', and not like what someone told me - packed and exciting. Maybe packed. But NOT exciting. Rather, it's more exhausting than anything. Of coz it doesn't help when you spend the night chatting online til 2 plus in the morning. lolx.

It was fulfilling in the sense that I got to meet my Mum's relatives on the 1st day, Dad's relatives on the 2nd day, in btw meeting a lot of my parents' friends as well, and still managing to squeeze in time to spend with my work colleagues @ Jacqueline's house on 2nd day. Really had a lot of fun there playing the games though hahaha. What musical chairs lar, throwing oranges around lar, CNY greetings. LOL. And of coz, last night was spent with my group of church friends at Dawn's house for dinner. It was good to meet up with them coz I haven't seen them like in ages?!? Really neglecting my choir duties. Tsk tsk =P No thanks to all my Sunday OTs hahaha.. The best of all was getting to meet my good pal Sheldon on 2nd day night after the gathering at Jacq's house. Really glad to have been able to catch up with him and have dinner/supper with him at Tanah Merah. Mee Goreng Pattaya.. Yummz. He is leaving for his Cambodia mission trip tonight. Best of luck Shel and may God be with you always. =)

Of course, the highlight of this year's CNY for me was being able to drive around for once!! Many thanks to my Uncle Lui who agreed to lend me his 2nd car, Toyota Altis to drive around on Saturday. It was really convenient and it really came in handy considering the places I had to go yesterday - Hougang, Novena, River Valley, Lorong Ah Soo and back home. Glad to say I haven't lost my touch with driving yet =P. Really inspires me to work hard to get a car of my own. Ppl say I'm lucky to have such a nice uncle who is willing to lend me his car. I couldn't agree any less.

Yups. A really fulfilling and packed CNY period. Maybe exciting in someways. hahaha. But mostly, EXHAUSTING. wonder how it would be like nxt yr? =)

Chinese New Year...

I just found out something this Chinese New Year - I'm growing old!! Too old to enjoy the Chinese New Year festives alr... =(

I rmb last time when I was a small kid, how I used to long for Chinese New Year. Of coz, that time CNY was a good break from school life lolx. but that's not the point. I rmb really looking forward to it, visiting different houses, relatives and friends, the atmosphere, the collecting of Hongbaos, the food... Well, i still look forward to the Hongbaos and food (of coz!), but somehow nowadays the atmosphere feels so like.. bleah. like it's just another year, nothing special abt it. wonder what happened along the way? where did I lose that feeling?

Yesterday's CNY eve reunion at my aunt's place was really not much different from other years. but this year the feeling was like - just eat and go home. of coz, the fact that I went there after work, half shagged, plus my parents wanting to go to one of their friend's mother's wake didn't help things. but somehow the mood is just so... different from other years. it seems to get worse every year. maybe it's my imagination.. I HOPE. or maybe it's really becoz I'm growing older, that CNY does not mean as much to me as it used to... whatever lar. Finally had a day off and time to spend to update my blog. =)

First of all, just like to say many heartfelt congratulations again to Nick & Verena, who have started on their journey as a couple together last Saturday. Here's hoping their marriage will be a fruitful and blissful one, and that the love they share will last a lifetime. It was wonderful just to share their joy together with the choir, be it the horrible torture during the 'taming of the bride' (I HATE WASABI + CHILLI PADI), the tea-ceremony, singing with my church choir for the wedding ceremony @ St Mary's of the Angels or the 'yam sengs' during the wedding dinner @ Park Plaza Hotel last Sunday.. It was truly memorable, probably one of the few weddings which I really enjoyed myself. Maybe it is becoz I have more ppl around my age group to talk and laugh with, unlike other wedding dinners, where ppl around me are either my parents' relatives or friends. Of course, who could forget the moving of the organ from my house to the church and back. That was probably the only thing that we could have done without. SERIOUSLY. other than that, I'm really happy for Nick and Verena, that everything went so smoothly for them on their wedding. once again, I wish the both of them the very best in their marriage life.

Been filled with quite a bit of regrets lately. Especially when it comes to my friends. I look at my Dad and I really admire the way he handles his friendship, the closeness between him and his buddies. I only wish I had 20% of the way he handles his friendship with others... So many friends I've been wanting to keep in touch, but more often than not, either due to work or studies, we can't find the time to meet up. Been thinking of how many ppl I want to meet up with.. hopefully there should be more than enough time b4 i go into uni to meet up with these peeps and treat them to lunch, dinner or smth. like Yiwei, Desmond from VJ; my good buddies from RI, Ken, Nick, CS and Seehong; my Army buddies, fellow commanders as well as ppl from Section 3; my church buddies who I feel have been closer than to me than any other thing at the moment.. somehow i feel i owe them a treat. haha and then there's Sheldon and his church friends, Yvonne, my JC 'mortal', whom I'm meeting on Friday i think.. and Marie too.. been wanting to meet up with her but dunno when she's ever free.. So many ppl I've been wanting to catch up with..

Then the other day this thot came to mind: that a friend shld know everything abt his close frens, what kind of food he likes, clothes, music, stuff like that? I'm not too sure if I do know that abt my good friends!! Maybe I'm not observant enough, or that I don't bother? I don't know.. Something that I must look into BIG TIME.. I'm guess I'm more of an understanding and helpful friend, as in I try to help my friends when they are upset or unhappy and cheer them up, or help them when they need advice or assistance. BUT Somehow I just feel that I need to be a better friend to others than what I am now...

At least today I did manage to meet up with Wei Lin, one of my long-lost friends from VJ who's staying in the same vicinity as me. we went for a swim this morn (perfect weather), and it was great company having him around, eating the claypot chicken rice, sharing our opinions, thots and views on everything under the sun; and he really got me thinking abt planning ahead for life, and making full use of this 8 mths or so we have b4 gg into uni. At least I've passed my driving alr! Something really useful learnt during this break. I still plan to take up guitar lessons in this period of time.. hopefully there's also enough time for me to spend in the library to enrich myself, do the things i enjoy doing like kayaking, meeting up with friends, and work, not to forget abt church commitments... Lots of stuff to do! And I also thot about wanting to take a vacation just b4 I go into uni. Suddenly the remaining 6 mths or so dun really seem like a lot of time to me!! It really boils down to striving for the balance in life we both were talking abt today.

And what really left an impact on me was his 3 impt things in life - The things you value, the limits facing you & the goals you want to achieve in life. and planning early is important to go far in life.
Something which i want to achieve. time to start working towards getting the max out of life...

A Close Shave and some reflections...

Whew! Had a close shave with the Law last night. Took a risk, or rather, a stupid one I must say. All because of wanting to chase the 135 and 154 buses at Paya Lebar Mrt Station. Can't understand why the 2 buses always come together?! the only 2 buses I can take to my house..

Anw, I saw the 2 buses arrive at the mrt bus stop and started to give chase. knowing fully well I wouldn't be able to make it, I looked ahead to the next bus stop which wasn't very far away, just after the traffic light. So i thot why not? try to dash to the next bus stop since both buses were stuck at the traffic light. in order to get there, i needed to cross both sides of the road. Of course, one side would be 'Red man' light rite? HAHA. and can you imagine who was at the traffic light?

1 x traffic police on his motorbike.

YES. he was stuck at the traffic light together with the buses; the one which when i crossed was green man. HOWEVER, the other side of the road was RED!! and seeing that there wasn't a single car in sight on the road, i thot what the heck, and proceeded to dash across the road to the next bus stop.

Big Mistake.

Next thing I knew when I reached the bus stop, his motorbike was just right behind me, and he was glaring at me. Scared sia. haha. then he just told me - you don't dash across the road like that when it is RED man! thot he was going to fine me.. fortunately he decided to let me off and just rode away on his bike. haha feeling quite paiseh after that. luckily not too many ppl at that particular bus stop haha...

It was a good lesson learnt. After all it's really not worth it to risk your life, even if there is no traffic around.. guess i'd try to MINIMISE my jay-walking habits after today hahaha..

4 days off from work!!! yay!! not even the temptation of doing RD OT could tempt me into giving up 1 of my 4 days off! after all me and jiazheng, my fellow teammate at work, both agreed that such an opportunity probably comes around once in a yr, it being so hard to come by, shall cherish it and enjoy myself at home, slacking around or hanging out with frens if they're free i guess. shall see how the 4 days goes. i know today gotta attend church - St. Stephen's Feast Day; church tmr... maybe shall go for a swim one of these days. weather's been quite good lately. and haven't been exercising at all!! somemore my ankle is taking damn long to heal.. now it's still like.. 80% recovered only? haix. feeling a bit sad to see so many of the Green Team ppl leaving alr.. just as when i got to know all of them, now there's so many newbies around i dunno so many of them again. double haix. hope Bin doesn't forget to plan for the dim sum outing.. hahax.

had a long talk with Nick last nite online. really respect him, admire and appreciate what he has done for the youth group @ SS. and looking at our current choir group, especially after x'mas, i can't help but feel this great sense of pride in being part of the group, like what nick said, this group of talented people, many good solo-ists and good musicians, the right leaders, the cool equipments, the vision. It just felt so damn good after all the hard work put in to make this xmas smth special, and to receive all the praise and accolades from everyone around that we sang really well, we performed really well at house caroling, at midnite mass.. well some ppl said we sounded a little soft at midnite mass, my parents for example, but who wouldn't, after all that caroling?!

haha. and true enough, the hard work begins next year, planning and leading, training, organising workshops, maybe camps; of recruiting more ppl, keeping this current group of ppl intact as the main foundation to build on.. things which are meant to push the choir to greater heights. guess the most impt thing to do now is to work on instilling a sense of pride and ownership among the current group of ppl, such that they want to take responsibility and feel smth towards wanting to contribute to the choir success. and what better that to start from the section level upwards - the basses? haha.. i dunno but i never saw myself as a good leader. coz i'm nice by nature. haha! never liked being the bad person, having to scold others or being nasty to them. but i'm def gg to have to try to do smth starting with the basses, to have section fellowships and stuff like that. 2 areas to work on - improvements on music technicality & group direction, as pointed out by nick.

I've got lots to think abt. Headaches...

Merry X'mas to all!!

Some happy memories for X'mas '07 with Jubilate...

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5149253126313071314" style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; spent quite a bit of time thinking abt the ideal gift to buy. & in many ways i think it was just the right gift. lots of thots went into buying the gift from Body Shop lor. i still think it's cool! haha & thanks too to Yong Kang who bought me a really nice green polo tee.. but like many of my colleagues, i think the shirt is a bit too bright. but it's ok really =P

also wanna say a big thanks to the peeps who called/smsed/msned/tagged (etc etc) to send their happy bdae wishes.. really appreciate & touched by the thots. even Marie, who wished me like... today?! 2 days late?! haha but it's okay really. in fact even if someone had wished me 10 days late it wouldn't matter. better late than never, & The session was a great time to quieten oneself down, to reflect on our lives, our involvement & commitment to the choir; to take a good look at our own priorities, & where does God fit into all this. The hymns that were sung provided the wonderful atmosphere to quieten our hearts & souls, to really have a clear mind to think & do some reflections. True, all of us in the choir have matured, in the midst of growing up; our priorities have differed as compared to previous years. some of us have studies to tend to, some have army commitments, & the rest, like me, have work, be it part-time or full-time. So much so that cracks in our bonding have appeared, our friendship not as strong as it should be; our feelings for each other, somewhat different, perhaps more bland as compared to the past. Add to the fact that half the choir left for Holy Spirit last year, leaving the other half to manage in St. Stephen; as well as ppl like Ernie & Jess leaving, the choir was, in my opinion, a 'lost' choir, with everyone heading in different directions & having different priorities. a choir that was united in mere presence, yet, also disunited in spirit & gradually pulling apart from each other. Without a shadow of a doubt, it has taken a toll on Andrea & Dawn, who have every right to feel jaded with our lack of commitments.

Things were thrashed out in the open, to quote Verena - 'everything laid bare on the table'. Any unhappiness, concerns, & personal feelings were voiced & shared among one another. There was agreements & disagreements. Tears were shed. Tissue papers passed around. Apologies were said & accepted. In the end, it just felt so good for everyone, with hugs being exchanged all round, especially for our leaders, Dawn & Andrea. Perhaps what Nick said best summed it up: Just because our priorities have changed, or maybe we have new friends, doesn't mean that we forget our old friends, that our feelings have to change.

It was the perfect way to start our preparation & build up to X'mas, caroling & all: by renewing our commitment to the choir & our friendship towards each other. For the first time this yr, I actually felt the X'mas chill!! As we carried on with our caroling practice after the session, I couldn't help but feel lucky & thankful to be among this special group of ppl. And to think that we actually thought an outing would bond all of us together! When in fact, a simple, quiet time together, was really all that we needed.

On an ending note, crises or rough times can be a double-edged sword: it can either pull ppl even closer together or further apart. It really depends on how we go about dealing with it. =)

Long Time no blog

exhausted!!

phew!! after working for 7 straight days, finally I get some respite from work.. Some can be real comedy, some, a complete pain in the ass.

Funny Cust (FC): Hi, how long do I have to charge my phone after buying 1st time?
me: oh, sir, u can leave it to charge up to 12 hrs to be on the safe side.
FC: 8 or 12?
me: 12 would be better i think (me not too sure, nver bothered abt how long to charge)
FC: erm, if u charge too long will there be any problems?
me: no sir, when the phone has fully charged, electricity supply will stop flowing to the phone.
FC: erm u sure the phone charge too long, it won't like.. FLOAT or smth?
me: *stunned for a while* erm sir i dun think your phone will float if left to charge for long periods..
FC: ok thanks.

Lolx.. I almost blurted out laughing at the customer.. haha! luckily i pressed the mute button b4 that! HAHA. (:

Den came along this pain in the ass - Evelyn. this horrible, rude, demanding, unreasonable person. for a lady to be called that by several consultants.. implies quite alot abt her doesn't it??

Evelyn comes from the UK, is currently a PR staying somewhere in Yishun. claims that Singaporeans are a pain to talk to, that we are stupid & unprofessional, if we went to London or Australia we would be laughed at; that's why we need to go such countries to undergo trg in order to be more professional. she still says, 'dun get me wrong, i don't mean to be rude or personal'. YEA RITE.

den she told me her entire story abt her being the victim of a warning letter sent out by my company, where she's the one being pranked upon instead of her being the person sending prank sms. Now i uds why ppl wld play prank on her. she's so-full-of-herself, all high and mighty, & for some silly reason think so highly of English countries. den she calls me idiot & stupid (her fave words btw) for not understanding her English, saying ppl in UK would uds her English in less than 5 mins. when in fact i had alr gotten her whole story written down & listening to her spout rubbish for 15 mins. haha.

den i made a mistake; smth i will learn from - to control my emotions. she became more demanding & demanded i investigate her case, telling me, 'speak up, Singaporean men have probs speaking up?' (mind you, she's the only cust telling me that in my 3wks there. stupid deaf woman) & 'hurry up, i've got no time for you, go chk you idiot'. on the spur of the moment i got pissed off & hung her up!! real b**** man..

den she kept calling back. wanting to speak to me, giving other consultants headaches & calling them stupid/twits. INCREDIBLE. den she kept wanting to speak to the previous consultant. who in their right mind would want to speak to her? everyone who spoke to her suddenly became unavail in one way or another, taking breaks or being engaged on the line. HAHA!!

& she dares to claim she's so god damn professional?! COME ON! if u're THAT professional, at least learn to be that wee bit more patient & not demand like a bloody spoilt child. looks like she's the stupid one in the end, having to make so many calls back & no one wanting to help her. HA. =P

When you miss someone, you either:
1. den again, ppl argue abt the possibility of a dragon-boat capsizing. can't really argue with that i guess. and then i thot abt me being unlucky. i'm really in no position to complain abt being unlucky.

somehow i still miss army and sch frens. i mean, working life currently isn't bad, with new friends who are nice ppl, gg out together with them for lunch. but i just miss my army frens, my sch frens, most of whom we hardly keep in touch at the moment due to our busy lifes.. juz hope we still can get together sometime.. haha

going crazy abt OT

WOW! juz 2 weeks into my job, i'm gg to do 4 OTs in the space of one week! incl Sunday, my rest day. that's when the pay's the coolest. hehehehehe...

A note of thanks...

Just like to say a big, BIG thank you to ms kwee lee, my mum's fren, who allowed me to drive her car to send us home after Jerrica's wedding. I really ought to put an ad on the Straits Times abt this wonderful Malay driver. can't rmb his taxi no, just that it was a new Comfort cab, auto-car i think. haha! but kwee lee really made the nite worthwhile for me, & of coz, the wedding dinner food was extraordinarily sumptuous.. mmm. :P

my ankle's on the road to recovery!! I proved him RIGHT. haha. can't help it. so long never play alr. now i suffer the consequences. ahah. sobs.

church was good today. Fr. Vaz certainly made the sermon more lively! especially his part on ppl can't handle failure in this world. to quote, 'u can't imagine telling someone that hey, u're a failure, and he tells you, 'thanks! let's have a party to celebrate.' haha!!

as usual, our choir never ever goes through Sunday w/o having kan chiong moments. hehx! today's issue was the AVA slides. apparently I had forgotten to remind Tim to put the new 'Kyrie' slide in front so as to teach the congre b4 mass. yups. rushed upstairs to tell them to change the slide, didn't make it in time; Andrea ended up teaching the congre w/o the slides. Great. Den I also forgot abt the responsorial psalm, which I had to play & didn't get a chance to practice wif Andrew either! Thankfully we did pretty ok in the end. Caroling practice was cool; learning new parts & for some of the guys who are on the brink of completing their A' level exams (congrats guys!) learning new songs. X'mas songs are really nice lah. hope this yr's caroling would eventually turn out to be smth diff from previous yrs. the leaders have discussed on this issue & we really hope it will be the case. coz everybody's getting the sianz feeling for doing this like 3-4yrs in a row?!? hahaha..

anw.. can u imagine the kind of things kids play with these days?!?! It worked!! The device gave off this high-pitched sound to indicate presence of rain. NOT BAD AT ALL!! (: Honestly, the stuff pri sch kids play with these days.. ALL JUMBLED UP!! better read up over the weekend before i DIE PAIN PAIN on tues.. =(

i really like jay's new album!! of coz his rap songs are not exactly my favourites but songs like 彩虹, 我不配, 牛仔很忙, 最长的电影, 蒲公英的约定.. nice nice songs. go buy if u guys haven't done so!! =)

An INTERESTING day to say the least

What is a perfectionist? look no further. ME. SERIOUS. just realised that, in many ways, I actually AM a perfectionist. doing this job of mine just made me more conscious of it. good or bad? BOTH. a perfectionist, as the name suggests, wants things to be done perfectly (duh!), efficiently, no problems/flaws encountered throughout the process & end-product. in short, everything falls into place, i.e. PERFECT scenario. GOOD in the sense that i do things with an aim - try to do things as perfect as i would like it to be, & i end up usually achieving better results in the end; BAD in a sense that i get disappointed when things don't go my way or I fail to achieve the aim set for myself..

Rather disappointed today. =(
1. Did not meet call quota & personal target of 100, only answered 89, which is actually quite impressive considering newbies usually reach around 70 plus..
2. Had 2 really nasty, stupid, irritating custs, 1 bent on making trouble, the other insistent on getting his way.. my day spoilers.

4th day into my job. finally started to answer calls on our own! of coz, with a senior part-time consultant beside to assist. today was more or less smooth sailing on the whole? & I would have hit the call quota of 100, if not for 2 custs who made life for me & my senior part-time consultant, difficult, to say the least. one cust had cable enq & was re-routed to my mobile dept due to the high call volume at cable site. simple solution - call back & try again maybe later, or we get cable dept to call them back in 48hrs. NO. this pest of a woman was more insistent on finding out why she was rerouted. it ended up with her wanting to speak to manager. WONDERFUL.
the other? had both of his phone lines terminated due to outstanding amts not paid even after payment extension. reminder was given to them to pay up for both lines otherwise both would be terminated. he said he 'paid up for one line, recon the line first'. sounds logical rite? however, guidelines req he pay up for both lines den we can recon the line/s. note his lines were term, not susp!! There's a diff when you don't pay up, suspension takes place first where 'paid up for one line, recon the line first' can be done. termination, after failing to make payments EVEN AFTER EXTENSION, sets in & cust must then clear ALL outstanding amts for ALL phone lines b4 any recon can be done. he asked for flexibility. sth i would have been all too happy to give to him if i had the authority. things eventually got worse, with me unable to do anything else other than adv him the same thing repeatedly. den he said i'm not fit to work in the dept to provide cust service & wanted to write in to newspapers. to quote him - 'I'm not making empty threats or joking ah, when I write in to newspaper & ur competitors laugh at you guys? don't say I never give you warning.' Purlease LOR! You want to write newspapers? by all means go ahead la. I get to be famous, or rather, infamous!! whatever. LOL. Honestly, the type of people you come across in this line of job.. we are NEVER short of colourful customers. hahax.

Life @ my new work place..

It's been sometime since i last blogged.. on my old account @ darylhjm87.spaces.live.com.. will probably relocate my blog over here permanently in the near future,(no guarantees when exactly that will be though haha!!) since ppl commented that they are unable to leave comments there w/o going through a lot of hassle.. yups. hope I'm able to further beautify this space as time goes by.. hehx.

Yups.. the past 3 days have been really eventful for me; a new experience, a new challenge. It's been fun, tiring, exciting, boring, frustrating, nervy, but perhaps ultimately, a very challenging 3 days that i've enjoyed.

just in this short 3 days i've gained loads from my work!! learning how to deal with difficult customers, learning how to speak confidently over the phone, learning about the many many different products, promotions and plans that my company has to offer (note it's mobile, not Cable TV or internet since i'm only from the mobile department!), learning how to multi-task and do not just 2 things at the same time but sometimes even 3 - handling the phone, the computer & my personal phone.. oops! not supposed to use personal phone during working hrs hahaha!! also resulting in me subconsciously becoming more efficient in doing stuff haha.

the most rewarding thing is probably being able to offer help to ppl i guess? most ppl are really patient & it's great to serve them! of course there are the irritating few who behave like the whole world owes them a great deal & act like total a**holes.. won't go into details on that! & den there's the banglas, phillipinos, or indians, mostly foreigners, where trying to converse with them can be a real headache. You can't really understand what they are saying, & of course, you don't expect them to understand what I'm saying rite? LOL!!

yups most of the ppl in my department are temps. along with me there are another 6 newbies, the rest being ppl there for almost 2 mths. most of them find it sianx & i dun blame them.. 2 mths of answering calls, doing the same thing over & over again.. currently i find it OK, a challenge to meeting the quota of 100 calls a day.. but maybe after 2 months i'd probably be like them? certainly hope not!! the first day was really sianz but at least now I'm getting the hang of it. so it's not too bad la. not to mention the pay & shift allowance goes some way to ease the pain of having to work ya?? hahaha!! =P
